I was reading the other day Practical Theology by Terry A. Veling and in it he engaged my mind rather abruptly when he mentioned the “margins of the book.” He says, “The margins represent the vital space between text and reader…. It is in the margins that I am most deeply involved and engaged with the text – reading it – but also creating it and bringing it to Down Streeterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17349902105886280929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3397651560207656910.post-70443450204871008302008-01-02T13:48:00.000-05:002008-01-02T13:50:23.096-05:00January 2008From the Desk of Pastor Tom...
When a new year begins I always find myself reminiscing about life. I just can’t seem to help it. Every year I go through this and I can imagine that I am most certainly not alone in this beginning of the year endeavor. I think about the past which I cannot change. I think about the future which I cannot control. And the only thing that keeps me moving forward is Down Streeterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17349902105886280929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3397651560207656910.post-88575404089522477882007-12-04T10:15:00.000-05:002007-12-04T10:17:54.858-05:00December 2007From the Desk of Pastor Tom…

What was the best Thanksgiving Day ever for you?
A little girl named Taylor Gay writes: I had the best Thanksgiving Day ever. It was cool. My cousins came over. We had turkey, sweet potatoes. It was yummy. Most of all we played outside until dinner was ready. After we ate dinner we went to the movies. Summer is here! Hurray! Oh my gosh!
Summer is here! That means, I have heard, huge crowds of people, cars stacked one upon another on every street. Beaches teeming with life. I must admit that I come to the summer time this year with some fear. I am wondering when I will be able to go the grocery store, or how I will ever make a left turn onto Main Street?

Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. At the Lord’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages….”
